    What are we looking for?

    The Regulatory Toxicologist has primary responsibility to provide global toxicology and risk assessment support for new and existing products, raw materials and processes. The position reports to the Director of Product Safety and Regulatory Affairs and works with the compliance team, other functions and the business to understand and reduce potential risks. This role provides a great opportunity to provide global support across all of OMNOVA’s product lines, make an impact and grow in position.

    Your tasks and responsibilities...

    • Prepare/oversee toxicological registration dossiers for registration of chemicals in accordance with current legislation and country requirements and for application related registrations of products (biocides, food, cosmetics, etc.).
    • Determine and evaluate exposure scenarios under defined(REACh, etc.) specifications and applications(food, medical device, etc.)
    • Create hazard, exposure and risk assessments for products and applications.
    • Provide toxicological product stewardship/safety support to assure products are safe and compliant for intended uses.
    • Toxicology project design, coordination and management. Design, manage and review toxicology studies conducted by external resources.
    • Advise business, technology teams, and customers on chemical and application laws.
    • Participate in advocacy for key chemicals and product lines.       Involvement in regional and global industry associations, consortia and efforts.
    • Provide support for global compliance programs (e.g. TSCA, FDA, REACh, Korea, Taiwan, and emerging programs).
    • Negotiate with authorities and international bodies on occupational exposure limits, substance evaluations and product approvals.
    • Maintain and engage with consultants, experts and networks to ensure relevant considerations are understood and addressed. Participate in trade groups and consortia as needed.

    Who you are...

    • Master’s degree in chemistry, biology, toxicology or related discipline
    • 5-7 years of chemical industry experience (specialty chemicals, polymers)
    • Experience working with chemical regulations and regulatory agencies
    • Regulatory affairs/product safety experience
    • Professional experience in exposure scenarios and risk assessment of substances
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Project and program management experience

    Preferred Qualifications

    • PhD
    • Previous managerial and strategy experience in the areas of Business Intelligence/Analytics, Project/Program Management and Development Operations (DevOps)
