    What are we looking for?

    The Director of Operations position provides leadership, direction and management for OMNOVA’s Laminates and Films- US sites. The successful candidate must have proven ability to improve safety performance and culture, leading plant leadership teams, understand/manage divisional P&L, drive operational excellence, develop an operations strategy in support of the business strategy, including capital allocations, and implement industry leading/high performance work practices. This role is responsible for setting a customer-centric operational philosophy. This role reports to the CTO and Sr. VP Operations & Supply Chain, and is based in the Monroe, NC plant.

    Your tasks and responsibilities...

    • Directs plant managers and department leaders to accomplish goals of the business strategy and annual operating plan, consistent with established safety and manufacturing procedures/practices.
    • Responsible for direct management of the Monroe site operational performance to deliver on key objectives in safety, environmental, production, quality, maintenance, customer satisfaction and budget development and control.
    • Provide strategic direction over the Jeanette, Auburn and Monroe sites in support of the Decorative Laminates and Performance Films business.
    • Provide leadership and direction for operations to meet demand for internal and external customers in the areas of Manufacturing and Delivery, Quality, SHE&S, Maintenance, and Engineering.
    • Develops a strategy and operating plans for capital allocation and asset utilization.
    • Assists plant managers and senior staff members in the development and formulation of long and short-range planning, and objectives.
    • Develop strong working relationships with all cross-functional departments including Technology, Sales, Marketing, Sourcing & Logistics, SHE&S, SOIP, Human Resources, and Finance to ensure support of critical business strategies and goals.
    • Continuously identify ways to drive strong safety culture, reduce manufacturing-operating costs, increase quality and performance through the incorporation of operational excellence strategies, and Lean Six Sigma.
    • Implement reliability programs and plans that optimize asset utilization, costs and capital resources.
    • Attracts, mentors, and develops top talent to ensure successful leadership of manufacturing operations.

    • Demonstrated strong leadership, team building and advanced coaching skills including the ability to motivate people, assess, select and develop employee skills, and drive organizational culture change.
    • Demonstrated interpersonal savvy, persuasion and negotiation skills to effectively interact with all levels of employees in a matrix reporting environment, internal and external customers, vendors and general public.
    • Previous divisional or business segment P&L experience with income statements, balance sheet and cash flow. Demonstrated understanding of P&L drivers.
    • Demonstrated understanding and advocacy of safety and quality systems, practices and requirements for a safe, efficient and effective work environment.
    • Knowledge and understanding of project and change management principles in planning, organizing and managing resources to bring about successful completion and adoption of project goals and objectives.
    • Knowledge of operational excellence methods to enhance process flows and develop operating and tactical plans to improve efficiency, product quality and manage cost. Previous experience leading and implementing continuous improvement and use of Lean, Six Sigma and related methods.
    • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions to expand margins and profitability.
    • Strategic thinker: Able to understand the “big picture” and demonstrated ability to identify indicators of system performance, monitor performance and develop actions to improve or correct performance relative to goals

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Knowledge of supply chain management including storage of raw materials, work in process inventory and finished goods from point of origin to point of consumption.
    • Knowledge of rolled goods and/or printing.

    Working Qualifications

    • Full time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday. May require some weekends or OT (upon request)
