    What are we looking for?

    The Oil & Gas Scientist will operate as part of a global team and will focus on new product development and technical service. The primary responsibilities are planning and conducting lab testing in support of production and sales, and leading or assisting in project management as it relates to R&D. The successful candidate will be familiar with common types of oilfield testing equipment and will be capable of compiling, analyzing, and reporting testing outcomes independently, as well as troubleshooting and developing test methods.  The position will be based out of Stafford, Texas, and will report to the Global Application Manager.

    Your tasks and responsibilities...

    • Working safely, cleanly and responsibly in a lab environment
    • Being a self-motivated, quick learner of technical subjects related to Oil & Gas Materials and their chemistries
    • Properly perform specific lab tests and develop new tests methodologies, including assessing utilization of new types of equipment.
    • Accurately collect, record, communicate experimental data, and report conclusions to the team using excellent report writing skills
    • Work as a goal-oriented member and as an individual contributor in interdepartmental teams
    • Effectively communicate to supervisor and project managers the status of projects and barriers that could hinder project success in a timely manner
    • Manage lab chemicals and supplies for Oil & Gas formulation testing
    • Utilize strong problem solving skills/ techniques on a daily basis to provide timely solutions
    • Use time management skills to meet deadlines while multitasking
    • Use MS Office for report writing, spreadsheet graphing, and statistical data analysis
    • Use MS Project for Project Management

    Who you are...

    • Bachelors degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Polymer Science or Chemical Engineering
    • 3-5 Years of chemical laboratory experience 
    • Familiarity with chemicals and safe handling practice 
    • Familiarity with standard lab equipment and API test procedures.
    • Exceptional problem solving skills
    • Ability to think critically, manage lab priorities and maintain the lab independently
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Adaptability to multicultural/international working environment
    • Ability to effectively work in a team environment, including work with team members in other reporting structures and functional areas
    • Demonstrated flexibility in job assignments and eagerness to learn new tasks, concepts and applications
    • Capability of working in a fast-paced environment
    • Basic math and computer skills with a proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

    Preferred Qualifications

    • 3-5 Years of chemical in an Oil& Gas lab. 
    • A working knowledge of drilling fluid, and/or cement testing formulations 
    • Completed a Major Service company drilling fluids and/or cementing training program
    • A working knowledge of Minitab/Design Expert
    • Familiarity with DOE or LeanSixSigma practices
    • Project management training
    • Experience interacting directly with customers
    • Familiarity with ISO requirements in a manufacturing or design facility

    Physical Factors

    • Occasionally moves equipment weighing up to 40lbs as needed
