    What are we looking for?

    Position serves as a core team member of the global OMNOVA product compliance team, and helps ensure that systems and processes are in place to support continuity and growth of the business through product regulatory compliance. Contributes actively to the creation, revision, and management of global hazard communication documents such as Safety Data Sheets and labels. Supports product regulatory compliance programs including export-import transactions and compliance with global chemical control legislation and regulations. Responsible for providing direct customer support and guidance on regulatory matters. Reports directly to the Director of Regulatory Affairs.

    Your tasks and responsibilities...

    • Provide global chemical and product safety regulatory knowledge. Function as an integral part of the global product compliance team through coordination and effective communication with global compliance team members, chemists, manufacturing and business teams.
    • Directly support compliance programs to assure compliance with TSCA, REACH, FDA, GHS, CLP and related global chemical control rules.
    • Analyze, understand and communicate risks associated with raw materials and products to internal stakeholders. Counsel and provide guidance in areas of product compliance, product stewardship, and product risk management
    • Propose solutions/alternatives to solve product compliance issues in a sustainable, sound, safe and cost-effective manner.
    • Maintain a thorough knowledge of emerging technical and regulatory issues pertaining to business and products. Support efforts to effectively advocate the company’s positions with trade associations, government agencies and other organizations.
    • Author SDS’s and related product labels for global product mix.
    • Providing timely responses to product safety and regulatory affairs inquiries from customers, users, and other stakeholders.
    • Conduct training for technology, commercial, manufacturing personnel, and customers on product safety and regulatory affairs issues related to products.
    • Support the Company’s Responsible Care® program activities.
    • Actively participate in audits related to global chemical compliance programs.
    • Evaluate processes and drive improvements
    • Function as one of the company Chemtrec emergency contacts.

    Who you are...

    • Bachelor's  degree in  chemistry, biology, toxicology, polymer science, environmental sciences or applicable scientific degree
    • Must be knowledgeable in the following areas: MSDS authoring software; TSCA, FDA, FIFRA, REACh, GHS, CLP and other related global chemical regulations
    • Proven project management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks/ projects simultaneously
    • Must have experience in dealing with regulatory agencies and trade associations; strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills.
    • Strong interpersonal and written and oral communication skills, and must be capable of interacting with diverse groups at all levels including customer service, plants, technology team, customers, technical consultants, contractors, and business teams.
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as a part of a global team
    • Effective written and verbal communicator, in both one-to-one and group discussions
    • Current proficiency in standard office software and the ability to learn specialized applications as required

     

    Preffered qualifications 

    • WERCS and SAP software experience preferred
    • CIH, PD license, CHMM certification desirable
