    What are we looking for?

    The Technical Engineering Manager will be responsible for managing process engineering activities at the Mogadore and Akron plant. The Technical Engineering Manager will act as the primary point of contact on all product/process improvement efforts. The individual will directly manage process engineering/technical personnel in Mogadore and provide lead ownership of engineering/technical processes in Akron. They will be fully accountable for making sure the technical process is sound with an ultimate goal of total customer satisfaction. They will be fully accountable for the successful scale up of new products/processes at both plants as well as the effective implementation of product/process improvements. The process engineering team will be the experts on the technical aspects of the products and processes at both plants. The Technical Engineering Manager will need to effectively utilize the expertise of their team and hold them accountable to supporting product/process improvement efforts in the plants. They must be agile and be able to quickly work with their teams to identify and resolve issues as well as identify opportunities and take action to continuously improve results. They also must be able to effectively utilize the fundamentals of continuous improvement to identify opportunities in safety, productivity, and cost and drive results in these areas.This role will partner with the technology team on a regular basis, as well as interface with the business and commercial teams frequently. They must be able to proactively and effectively communicate to all levels of the organization as well as customers.

    Your tasks and responsibilities...

    • Actively participate as a member of the Plant Leadership Team providing strategic insight and guidance on the technical product and process engineering efforts in the plant
    • Develop the systems, people, and teamwork within the organization that are needed to own continuously improvement efforts.
    • Drive improvement in the process engineering areas with ultimate goal of achieving total customer satisfaction
    • Pro-actively provide resources to investigate and resolve product and process issues.
    • Fully accountable for the successful scale up of new products/processes at both plants as well as the effective implementation of product/process improvements which includes the definition and implementation of effective quality control standards.
    • Effectively collaborate and partner with the technology team to deliver critical products and process improvements
    • Own the continuous improvement portfolio for both sites and take a leadership role in ensuring work processes and management systems are in-place to identify, track, prioritize and execute improvement projects
    • Effectively utilize the fundamentals of continuous improvement to identify opportunities in safety, productivity, and cost and drive results in these areas.
    • Act as the main point of contact both internally and externally for process engineering issues/opportunities
    • Act as the primary expert on product/process engineering at both plants and pro-actively provide resources to solve and correct problems using problem solving techniques and continuous improvement tools
    • Develop resources to be experts in critical areas including the batch controlled DCS system
    • Develop critical competencies in team members through training, performance evaluations (PDS), and timely information and formal feedback sessions.
    • Identify, address, and resolve technology issues and/or lead the facility into new areas of technology
    • Develop new processes and procedures, provide technical support to all facets of the operation including production, maintenance, and, SHE&S.
    • Participate in and support the global technical networks for process engineering and their strategic goals and objectives
    • Assess and implement analytical methods and tools to increase productivity, decrease variability and reduce sampling safety risks
    • Implement systems and tools to improve process capability and reduce product variability

     

    Who you are...

    • Bachelors in engineering, chemistry, or polymer science
    • 5-7 years of experience in chemical plant or monomer/reactive chemistry
    • Certified Lean Six Sigma Green / Black Belt (ASQ Preferred)Reactive monomer chemistry chemical plant experience
    • Batch controlled DCS knowledge
    • Excellent problem-solving skills
    • Excellent cross functional collaboration and communication
    • Ability to practically implement continuous improvement principles (Lean, Six Sigma, Waste Reduction, Design for Six Sigma, TQM, TPM, DMAIC, etc.) and drive results
    • Ability to get results when there is no clear path or solution
    • Ability to strategize and determine where to focus when there are many competing issues/opportunities
    • Ability to change focus as needed and manage multiple projects at the same time
    • Strong planning and organization skills
    • Working knowledge of experimental design/analytics
    • Active listener with strong interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work in product development process environments with different functions (R&D, commercial, plant, production, safety)
    • Excellent communication skills to all functions at all levels
    • Ability to communicate and present both internally and externally to a diverse audience

    • Higher level technical degree

    • Experience with latex chemistry

    • Experience with RCMS & RC/ISO14001

    • Certified Internal Auditor (Exemplar Global or ASQ Preferred)

    • ASQ CMQ/OE Certified

    • Previous experience working within ISO 9001 certified quality system
