What are we looking for?

The Global Marketing Manager - Plastic and Rubber Compounding will be responsible for defining and implementing OMNOVA’s regional marketing strategies and initiatives for the plastic and rubber industry. The Marketing Manager will identify and connect latest trends and needs in these markets to our product portfolio offerings to deliver successful concepts and innovations to our customers. The candidate will also be responsible for identifying specific needs and new potential applications to expand our share in new market segments. The candidate will be closely connected to these industries, understand the end-use customer needs and the competitive environment to further expand OMNOVA’s position besides current applications.

Success is measured by demonstrating profit and margin growth in segments of responsibility. An ability to connect science and OMNOVA’s portfolio to the businesses, claims and benefits is also instrumental to achieve success in this role. Must be a creative, adaptive leader and a team player with ability to interface closely with the external market, customers, consultants, industry associations, and internal functions, such as the marketing team, product management, sales, manufacturing, finance, technology and R&D. The successful candidate will be skilled at successfully working within a matrix environment.

Your tasks and responsibilities...

  • Responsible for the development of a global business strategy supported by a fully integrated marketing plan with clear direction, management, and positioning of key products and brands. The strategy should drive the alignment across functions globally.
  • Responsible for understanding how market segment(s) will develop and how best to position OMNOVA for long-term profitable growth. Includes recommendation on where to invest in research, processes and people.
  • Identify market’s un-met needs and execute upon strategic growth opportunities supported by robust market opportunity assessment to achieve business growth objectives.
  • Responsible for competitive intelligence and positioning. Track and monitor the market with respect to competition, market dynamics and technology developments (benchmarking) and define compelling, winning strategies and action plans - Organize cross regional core team meetings, encourage active participation from all core team members
  • Defines appropriate customer and market segmentation; aligns strategies to leverage and maximize value across defined segments
  • Develop and execute new product launches based on business plans, accountable for positioning and value pricing strategy for products of responsibility and for the specific industries
  • As a member of the Marketing Council, identify share and leverage best practices.
  • Organize cross regional core team meetings, encourage active participation from all core team members.

Who you are...

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Management or related field with 5+ years’ plastic industry experience.
  • Clear mindset towards customer focus and market orientation, coupled with a strong growth orientation.
  • Must demonstrate strong data analysis and assimilation skills, and have experience using data to form conclusions/recommendations for action
  • Experience developing and successfully implementing marketing strategies and initiatives.
  • Demonstrated project and team leadership experience, especially with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with project management, especially innovation projects.
  • Strong interpersonal, communications and influencing skills

Perfered Qualifications:

  • MBA; 5+ years of demonstrated marketing experience in the Specialty Chemicals Industry
  • Strong product knowledge and end uses for product or industry focused assignments
  • Strong Financial and Business Acumen skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communications and influencing skills
  • Learning agility
  • Forward thinking with a process orientation
  • Technical knowledge within the industry
  • Excellent Microsoft Office proficiency
