What are we looking for?


The Vice President, EH&S and Product Stewardship is the senior leader in OMNOVA responsible for the programs and policies that ensure we operate with world class effectiveness in employee health and safety security as well as regulatory compliance of our products. Overseeing multiple disciplines, the selected individual will be an expert in one or more of the technical area, ideally regulatory compliance, and have deep experience leading global, cross-functional teams at the executive level.  


Your tasks and responsibilities...

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve enterprise-wide SHE&S and product stewardship strategy and programs consistent with industry best practices including, tools, training, and governance.
  • Assess and implement optimal SHE&S organizational structure and objectives to drive program effectiveness and leverage across the organization knowledge, personnel, best practices, and resources. 
  • Interface with OMNOVA’s Chief Technology Officer and General Manager’s to develop strategy, processes and procedures for new product introductions and stewardship of the existing product portfolio
  • Inspire OMNOVA employees to embrace a culture of “safety first” by helping them understand the business value and positive culture impact
  • Direct the corporate SHE&S audit program as a means to regularly assess and verify compliance and drive effective corrective actions and behaviors.
  • Coordinate the company's financial planning for SHE&S compliance and related activities.
  • Participate as a member for due diligence teams evaluating acquisitions, joint ventures, divestitures and related transactions.
  • Lead investigations of potentially significant non-compliance or environmental enforcement matters.
  • Implement and manage global systems and processes for effective communication and tracking of compliance status, incidents and associated corrective/preventive actions
  • Establish and maintain internal SHE&S standards and a rigorous oversight process that meets regulatory/compliance requirements, improves performance, reduces risk, and mitigates incident frequency and severity.
  • Establish and maintain an effective collaboration and mentoring network among all SH&ES and product stewardship professionals
  • Understand business unit strategy and how SHE&S/product stewardship management impacts growth, operations and financial performance.

Who you are...

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline (engineering, science)
  • Minimum 10 years experience in the chemical industry and 5 years in a senior corporate SHE&S position leading global, cross-functional teams
  • Expert global regulatory knowledge for the chemical industry with an emphasis on product stewardship and environmental compliance (air, water, waste management, global chemical regulatory statutes – REACh, TSCA, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience in networking and coordinating with governmental and regulatory authorities on a global basis.
  • Demonstrated experience in driving cultural change and providing leadership in a diverse international environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong customer service focus
  • Independent thinker with strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to travel extensively


Desirable Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a technical discipline (engineering, science)
  • Multi-lingual capability (French, Spanish, Chinese)
  • LSS Black Belt
